Till Death Us Do Part is a piece created for submission for juried selection to the Museum of Dufferin’s (Ontario, Canada) 2014 exhibition A Stitch in Time. Till Death Us Do Part is a deconstructed ‘wedding’ dress. The black stitching follows the original stitch lines that were painstakingly unpicked. The text is taken from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer. The intent of this work was to draw attention to contemporary society’s ‘deconstruction’ of marital mores. The ‘I do’ is an ironic allusion to our narcissistic society and that, in contrast to the past, so few marriages last until death.
